They are studying at the library together. Books and legal pads are scattered across the rectangle table. They sit on opposite sides with heads buried in books.

“Oh. Cherise is pregnant.” The man says to the woman.

“Oh.” The woman scribbles some notes and looks up at the man. “Is she happy about it?”

“She’s not unhappy about it.”

“Why didn’t she tell me? I didn’t know she was sleeping with anybody. When did she find out?”

“This morning.”

“That’s quick.” She returns to jotting down more notes.

“She called and left a message.”

” Is she upset about it?”

“I don’t think she is. She’s nervous.”

“About what, motherhood? I guess that’s normal.”

“I don’t think that’s it.”

“Money then?”

“No. About telling you that I’m the father.”
